Kirsten has vast experience in international relations, research and fisheries advisory she has worked as senior adviser for fisheries in the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) for the Ministry of Development Cooperation since 1983. She has also served as the first secretary at the Norwegian Embassy in Mozambique (1992-1994) and Counsellor for the UN delegation of the Norwegian embassy in Rome (2008-2011).
