Rebecca Surtees

Rebecca Surtees is an anthropologist and senior researcher at NEXUS Institute where she works on issues of migration and human trafficking. She has experience both in the implementation of anti-trafficking programmes and as a researcher in Asia, Europe, the former Soviet Union and West Africa. She has worked for the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and various NGOs. Since joining NEXUS Institute in 2005, she has conducted numerous research studies on human trafficking including within the fishing industry in Africa, Southeast Asia and the former Soviet Union. She is currently conducting research on fishers trafficked in various destinations in Africa and implementing a project in Indonesia aimed at supporting the recovery and reintegration of trafficking victims including trafficked fishers.
